Can you attach longboard wheels to skateboard decks and get a similar effect?

I'm looking to get a longboard for the cruising and stuff, but I already have a skateboard and I was wondering if it is possible to attach the large, soft longboard wheels onto my skateboard trucks and still have the cruising feel to it.
Yep, you will need to add some 1/2 in risers to keep from getting wheel bite. Loosen the trucks up and you should get a cruising effect, but it won't be exact

depends, sector 9's are hit or miss a lot of times, if its a higher end board, get a sector 9, if its lower end, santa cruz

What is the width and length of a longboard deck for a skateboard?

I am looking for longboard decks online, but I don't know what the width or length of a longboard is.
as youve probably already discovered, not all longboards are cookie cutter shapes such as the dominant street/freestyle boards are. longboards range from 34 to 100+ inches in length.
for a more help, just go to this link. sure, its a grip to read, but nearly everything you need to know about starting up is there.
