Depends what part of Southern Cali:

San Diego: La Jolla Shores- Nice form,Long Waves
Mission Beach or South Mission Beach:Usually the same
as La Joola but can sometimes be choppy.

Los Angeles:Santa Monica-

What longboard has the most surf-like feel?

I've been longboarding for about 5 years and have experienced a lot of different boards, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced one with a real surf feel. It can be just a deck, or a whole set-up; trucks, wheels, and deck.

FlexDex are very nice they offer a ton more flex so they are virtually indestructible, you can even run a car over them and they wont break. The flex in the middle gives it a huge feel like you are in the water. And its excellent for carving but if you want to lower your core score a little bit ripsticks feel somewhat like surfing

Gravity skateboards are pretty solid, but its not really about the board as much as how you ride it. Try cross-stepping, noseriding, big carves. That'll feel more like surfing.

Well, if you teach in NYC, you make more than I do, so let's cut to the chase. You can buy a decent longboard for anywhere from $450.00 to $700. (give or take 50 bucks). There are hundreds of great surf shops between Montauk Point and Cape May. Go to any one of them, and the folks there will help you get a board that is just right for your size, skill
