Make sure you're using a patch cable to connect the modem to the router, and on the router connect the cable to the "Internet" port. Then connect another patch cable from any one of the 4 ports on the router to the NIC on the computer. After doing this, go to the "control
panel" then "network connection", then "new

Use the WAN port on the router to connect the modem. Plug in all ethernet/RJ45 Cables/wires. Then, first plug in 110v on modem, let the lights all light up. Then plug in the power on the router. open up Iexplorer go to tools/options tab connection select lan choose auto then apply and exit IE. Re-enter IE it should work.

You must disconnect the power from the modem before connecting the router. This lets it detect the new connection when you plug it back in. Switching it off does not work. You then configure the router according to the manual.

How can I change my MTU settings on my Motorola SURFboard SBG900 to fit my X-Box 360's needs of 1365?

Okay, I reaaallly want to connect my X-Box 360 to LIVE but my Motorola SURFboard modem just doesn't seem to let me connect. I called Microsoft Support and they said to change my MTU settings to 1365 or more but no more the 1600... How do I do this?
Can't do it from the Modem. You have to change it in your router or Window. Download the TCP Optimizer, run it and change your MTU. Link here http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

Can I connect a Motorola surfboard to another part of my house through the regular tv cable?

Its a motorola surfboard (armstrong)
I think your asking if you can just move your cable modem.
No, the other outlets in your house will have a Lowpass filter. Your cablemodem is low freq. (thats just the frequencies they decided to use). The particular frequency is blocked on all but the one that your modem is on (if it was installed properly). Even if you took the filter
